Secondhand
Secondhand Nebulisers
Asthma Canterbury has a small stock of second hand nebulisers for sale. These have been donated and have been cleaned, electrically checked and pressure tested to ensure that they deliver the required pressure for nebulisation. Asthma Canterbury is unable to give any guarantee however for second hand nebulisers.
Asthma Canterbury sells giving sets suitable for all nebulisers and filters for some brands.
Points to consider before buying a nebuliser
- Are you using a spacer for your inhalers? For the "press" type of inhaler, a spacer makes a big difference to how much medication you get and can be as effective as a nebuliser.
- How often do you need to use a nebuliser when you are at your worst? If you use it more than three times a day when you are unwell, or if you have COPD, we recommend choosing a 'heavy duty' model from the list. The 'light use' nebulisers need a one hour rest between use to allow the motor to cool completely and take a little longer to deliver the medication.
- Check with your doctor before buying a nebuliser as he/she must be willing to prescribe the medication needed for its use.
- A doctors letter is required confirming your need for a nebuliser before Asthma Canterbury can hire or sell you one.
Please contact Asthma Canterbury on 03 366-5235 if you have any questions or require further information.
Asthma Canterbury can give information about nebuliser care and maintenance if you do decide to make a purchase.
