Asthma Canterbury (trading name of Canterbury Asthma Society) is a not-for-profit charitable organisation which was established in 1972.

Our mission statement is:

"To improve the quality of life for people with asthma and related diseases throughout the Canterbury area by providing support, education, resources and knowledge to its members and the wider community".

The Society is run by a volunteer management committee. It is affiliated to the Asthma & Respiratory Foundation of NZ and Asthma NZ/Lung Association, and holds a contract of 70 hours per week with the Canterbury District Health Board, for the provision of services.

Its aim is to increase awareness and make respiratory education more easily accessible, enabling individuals to make informed choices appropriate to their needs.
